Lore Lesson: Arckor, the Battle-Isles
In the gulf of Arckor lies 6 islands, each ruled by the island’s Warlord. Every new moon, the current Warlord must battle a nominated opponent, the winner either staying or becoming the new Warlord. In order to be able to compete to be a Warlord, you must be a blood member of the Arckor people. This is tested on a special altar on each island, known as the Red-Altars. These altars were cut from a special stone hauled from the seas that when bled on would reveal one’s true lineage. When a blood member of the Arckor Gulf would bleed on the altar, the blood would boil and start to turn into steam. In order to qualify to be a blood member, you must have at least a parent (half-blood) or a grandparent (quarter-blood) who was a blood member. Whole-blooded members are usually favorited by the populous.
The people of Arckor subject themselves to war games and the like to keep their skills sharpened. They may feud with each other, but are under a blood-oath to stay loyal to each other and the islands. When attacked, they band together under the Elderlord, the Warlord who was in power for the longest amount of time. They are also known for their great colosseums and enormous statues and other works that give a sense of grandeur and immense strength that these people must have.
The races of Arckor include mainly humans, and very few half-elves and even some minotaurs.
