Lore Lesson: The History of Eluthriem, pt2
The Kingdom of Eluthriem suffered several hardships over the years of its existence.
During the very early parts of the kingdom’s life, the Dragonthaw began. Eluthriem could not escape the might of the Green Dragons as they were close to the Worweald. The capital received the most damage, but they were able to rebuild. The attack left a thick forest (called the Thick) extending from the Timbertusk Forest, splitting Eluthriem in half. Later on when the Culling of Scales began, Eluthriem’s forces were even able to defeat one of the young green dragons, its corpse landing in the Timbertusk Forest.
About 100 years ago from today, the Drothaine Family was slaughtered in one night by a large band of River-Lands rebels led by the infamous Harthan Keep. The pillaged the town and its people and managed to hold the keep for 1 month before being kicked out. It is unknown for sure if Harthan Keep was ever killed.
Much later, the Roluthirs were kicked out of power because of the then current king Riegan I was consolidating power, ignoring the council (in place for advice and checks-and-balances), and showing a disgusting attitude towards foreigners (especially those from Toryth, as it is believed that because they tolerate Archfiend worship that they are all evil). Riegan called his entire council together and slaughtered all but one, half-elf Frendrick Glaine. Glaine was an old and wizened politician and favorite of Riegan I, and was used as a hostage to allow his safety to leave the city. It is unknown what had happened to Glaine, but it is presumed that he is dead. After Riegan was hunted down, the Tulemors took over Eluthriem. The remaining Roluthir family were exiled but allowed to stay within Eluthriem’s borders, as was Riegan I’s wishes. He made an agreement to have his family and followers be spared from his own actions, while he would agree to his own execution. Thus, Greenhill was formed in the wake of the head of the Roluthir house’s death, with the young Dryhten left to rule.
About 10 years ago, a band of pirates kidnapped the Queen. She was then saved by several of Eluthriem’s then heroes. Unfortunately, the Queen suffered a cart accident when riding from the capital, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. It was later revealed that the Green Syndicate was behind this accident
Now in recent history, the World Fair was suddenly attacked by Greenhill’s Green Syndicate, leaving the youngest prince of Eluthriem dead. This attack was the final straw in the feud between the Tulemor and Roluthir houses, and a long-awaited war begun. Several days later, a magical storm known as the Blackstorm of Eluthriem came over the kingdom. While most believe this as an omen of the feud between the Tulemors and the Roluthirs, the actual cause was because of 4 liches being raised by the power of the ley-line in Greenhill. The true nature behind the liches are that they are the apprentices of Elus who have parts of Nemesiel trapped within them, their souls twisted and tormented for being subject to such a fate for so long. After the liches were defeated, the Roluthir princes and their accomplices escaped via teleportation circle, while Dryhten was left to die. Strangely, it appears that the Roluthir were not the true orchestrators, but instead were having their strings pulled by some darker force.
